What happens after I am approved?

You will need to create a my.ny.gov ID account if you do not already have one.

Step by step instructions for the registration process may also be found on the Medical Marijuana Program Website at: https://www.health.ny.gov/regulations/medical_marijuana/patients/ under "How to Register"

A temporary Medical marijuana card with full instructions on how to request medical marijuana card from NYS will be emailed to you after the Provider completes your certification. You may use this temporary card to obtain medical marijuana as soon as you receive it.

Is the certification covered by health insurance?

The New York State government said insurers must provide coverage for medical office visits for covered services "including those that may result in a medical marijuana certification" as long as the visit was not solely for the purpose of the certification.

This site does NOT perform medical office visits and is for the Sole purpose of Medical Marijuana certification, therefore is NOT covered by Insurance companies.

Will I need to renew my medical marijuana certification?

Medical marijuana certification is usually provided for 1 full year, which is the maximum amount of time permitted by the NYS Dept. of Health. Renewal or recertification is required every year. If you change prescribing providers you will need to complete the whole certification process again at renewal time.
